State of Readiness

- Condition One: Attack is present, or imminent. The CIC is locked down and the ship's commander is on station.

- Condition Two: Threat probable, but not present.

- Condition Three: This is the "all clear" alert, returning crews to their normal, day-to-day non-combat duties after Conditions One or Two. This is normal cruising during wartime.

There are three things in life that you cannot avoid:

1)Death
2)Taxes
3)Birthdays

The first two are OK with me. I really don't think about death and I already pay taxes on everything I buy (Damn Liberal government!), but what I hate are birthdays. When you're still a kid, they're kinda cool. You get presents, cake and a piñata to whack around. When you're in your late teens, you still get the odd present, you get drunk with your friends and you (sometimes) get a girl to bang around. When you're about to be 23, stuck in a dead end job, with near-zero social life, lonely and about to be unemployed, your 23rd birthday doesn't seem that appealing.

I wish I could get drunk on Wednesday, but I cannot. I have no monies. I wish I could stay home in bed, but I cannot. I have to go to work.

I'm getting to old for this shit.
